The beaches of Jaco and Playa Hermosa are internationally known surf destinations. Jaco is primarily the domain of neophytes, who take advantage of the relatively calm and consistent wave produced at high tide, to learn in a safe environment. Playa Hermosa produces powerful waves all year round. The three and a half mile beachfront opens up to swells from all directions. Playa Hermosa attracts top surfers from around the world, who come not only for the frequent surf contests, but also to enjoy the consistent waves, warm water, and friendly community of Playa Hermosa.
